Spoiler alert: It’s the perfect iPad holder in bed, but let’s talk about other ways to use the HoverBar Tower in exercise, before we hit Netflix and kick back!
I’ve had the Twelve South HoverBar tower for a couple of months now; It was a great time as I had just invested in an iPad to use when Personal Training clients are at home. I’m not a big fan of digital notes, but I started using an app to schedule workouts, and using an iPad to access it seems so much more professional than being on my phone when I’m with a client.
About The Twelve South HoverBar Tower

In January 2023, Twelve South, a leading designer of Apple accessories, launched the HoverBar Tower. It’s a flexible floor stand made specifically for iPad.
Some of the features of Twelve South HoverBar Tower include:
- adjustable height (90 cm to more than 150 cm)
- swivel mount allows portrait or landscape
- very easy to assemble
- fits all iPad models, even with most cases attached
The HoverBar Tower is available to buy now for £129.99 from the Apple Store and online in black and white and Amazon UK in black only.
5 Uses for the HoverBar Tower iPad Stand

The Twelve South HoverBar Tower is definitely one of the best iPad stands I’ve come across in the UK to date. Quality warrants price, for sure. Here are several ways to use the iPad stand to make it a value purchase:
Teaching/participation in online classes
When I’m teaching my online classes and personal training, using the HoverBar Tower iPad mount allows me to use my iPad as another Zoom screen, as a timer, or to display my session plan. I can position myself outside of the camera view so that it is visible to me, but not my participants.
I’ve also used the iPad holder when I’ve attended classes like yoga online and if you use apps like Fiit for on-demand classes it would work great.
Instead of an indoor cycling board
I currently use a Lifeline training table, but this iPad mount would be a great alternative and/or addition to an indoor cycling setup. If you have Zwift installed on your iPad, the height is perfectly adjustable to fit when you’re on the bike.
If not, you could use it to watch movies or control your music while driving.
Perfect iPad stand in bed.
If you’re looking for the perfect iPad stand on bed, this is the one. The way the stand is constructed, the flat panel that forms the base, slides nicely under a bed or sofa, allowing you to have your screen at the perfect distance to watch Netflix* while tucked under a blanket.
*Other streaming platforms are available (including Amazon Prime Video).
Next to your walking pad
First of all, yes, I succumbed to the TikTok fitness trend and bought an indoor walking platform to help me work on my core fitness. Since the pandemic, 99% of my work is indoors, so I no longer have to commute and travel from one place to another.
This has meant a huge reduction in my daily steps and due to safety concerns and bad weather it is not always feasible to go for a walk outside.
Anyway, having an iPad stand is super handy to have next to my walking pad which allows me to play podcasts without the need for headphones and/or something else from Netflix.
To use your iPad as a cookbook
Most of the recipes I follow these days are online as I am constantly trying to figure out how long I need to cook everything in my deep fryer or Instant Pot.
I do most of my searching on my iPad so I can have a good view of the recipe as I follow it and using the HoverBar Tower iPad stand means I can save what little counter space I have for the process. And I keep my iPad out of the danger of spills.
Bonus: watching movies in the bathroom
I think this will be my next use for the HoverBar Tower: using it to prop up the iPad so I can watch a movie or show while taking a bubble bath (or more likely an Epsom salt bath!). Obviously, be careful where you put the stand so you don’t risk the iPad falling over in the bathroom when you touch it.
Hopefully, from the above ideas, you can see that HoverBar Tower is not just for fitness. You could even use it to follow tutorials online or in your home office it could be used to float an iPad on top of or next to a desktop monitor as a second (or third) screen.
It’s super portable yet rugged, with a long list of clever ways to use it! You can pick up your own HoverBar Tower for £129.99 in the Apple store and online in black and white and Amazon UK in black only.
