Our August theme at Wit & Delight is all about getting back to basics. As our team brainstormed story ideas we would share throughout the month, we decided we wanted to put together a list of the tried-and-true products I’ve followed up on. years. While there are many beloved items that I’ve tried on over time, the list of ones that I’ve bought over and over again over the years turns out to be much smaller.
This post is about the things that make my life easier, the list of ride-or-die skincare and makeup basics that I keep reordering that actually work for me.

Healthy Eye Contour Cream: Firm + Lighten

I have used many eye creams over the years. In many cases, I felt like the ones I was trying didn’t do much, until I found this one from Follain. I feel like I instantly look more awake after applying it and find it to be very moisturizing.

This is my go-to winter sunscreen, one I’ve been buying for years. I use it for a more matte look and feel like it does the job of three products in one. I don’t need much more coverage than this when my skin is at its healthiest.
Neo-cleanse exfoliating skin cleanser

My dermatologist has told me that preventing premature skin aging is more about exfoliating than anything else. After years of testing different skincare products, this exfoliating cleanser was a game changer when it came to improving texture and boosting radiance. Glycolic Acid helps remove the top layer of dull skin for a smoother, brighter complexion. I have bought this product over and over for years.
Healthy Dual Detox Mask: Purify + Resurge

This is the mask I always come back to. It always feels soothing and cool when I put it on and my skin feels super clean and tight (in a good way!) after using it. As a bonus, the smell is really refreshing. I use it once a week and never want to stop!
ILIA Limitless Mascara

I gave up my eyelash curler thanks to this mascara. This is one I have returned to time and time again. I particularly love how lightweight the formula is and how the brush spreads and lifts my lashes without any clumps. One note to consider: it does bleed a bit, so if you’re watery-eyed, this might not be for you!
SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic Serum

I have tried a number of vitamin c products, some of which gave absolutely zero results. This serum from SkinCeuticals is my number one pick. If you’re going to buy a product to boost your skin’s overall glow, this is where to splurge. It’s definitely a higher price point, so if you want to try it out before you take the plunge, consider asking your dermatologist if they can provide you with a sample!
NARS blush in color orgasm

I have been using NARS blush in color orgasm for years (and years). I now use the liquid formula and in my experience the product is a dream for giving that barely there blush look. I instantly look more awake and “healthy” after applying it, and the consistency just melts into your skin and blends perfectly. Sometimes it’s messy, so make sure you close the lid tight!
EltaMD Barrier Renewal Complex

This product is a gentle (but very effective) moisturizer. It’s light enough to wear under makeup, yet moisturizing enough to feel the effects all day long. I also use it at night! Combined with the cleanser and serum above, I have my basic daily skincare routine covered.
