Kate’s Picks: 7 Things I Tried In January And Loved | wit and pleasure

In January, I made purchases with clear intentions.

well maybe not that intensely, but when I noticed a problem area that I wanted to address, I searched for a product that could solve it.

Listed below are a book that is helping me find a flow state more often, various makeup products that simplify the process of getting ready in the morning, the journal I use every day, and more. Some of the things I loved have more to do with feel good than functionality, which, in retrospect, was nice during what is usually the coldest month of the year.

These are the seven things I liked the most in January…

1. Flow by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi

$10

This book blew my mind. It is about the psychology of being in a state of flow, all the benefits that can come from it, and how we can find a sense of flow in our daily lives. I found the author’s exploration of this topic. so insightful and I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is curious about the subject.

2. Kosas Moist Lip Oil

$22

This is the best lip gloss I have tried in a decade. It is shiny but not sticky, and it plumps up your lips in a very natural way. I have a warm red called Jaws and a nice pink called Malibu!

3. H&M satin Pajama shirt and pants

$35

This is an adorable pajama set that I’ve been wearing all along. The satiny material makes them a joy to wear. I have increased the size to make the fit a little more comfortable!

4. Agenda Wit & Delight 2023

$20

I immediately started using our 2023 planner in early January. I use it to plan my days, keep track of high-priority tasks I need to get done, take notes, and even jot down my mood. It is an organizational tool that I have by my side every work day.

5. Tower 28 Mask

$20

This mascara is absolutely the best – it lengthens my lashes and makes them look really big. I loved it from the first time I used it. I will say that the wand can get a bit clumpy after a while, it doesn’t bother me much, but it’s something to keep in mind!

6. Sézane Louise sweater (gifted)

$145

I love the style of this jumper, from the button details to the slight balloon sleeves. It is a very flattering and versatile piece and I have been wearing it all the time. In terms of sizing, I find it to run large, as many Sézane items do in my experience.

This style is currently low on stock in many colors, but you can also find more of my favorite Sézane knitwear in this blog post!

7. Rare Beauty Positive Light Silky Touch Highlighter

$25

This highlighter is amazing. It has a cult following, and for good reason! Leaves a beautiful, natural-looking shine wherever applied, and lasts all day. I apply it to my cheekbones, the bridge of my nose, the tops of my eyelids, and my cupid’s bow.
