If you’re a fan of Nutella chocolate hazelnut spread (and who isn’t?), you probably already know how versatile it is.

You can spread it on whole grain toast or crackers, make Nutella thumbprint cookies with it, add it to brownies, or make ice cream with it!

I love experimenting with new ice cream flavors in my Ninja Creami ice cream maker. I have already made Ninja Creami Chocolate Ice Cream with Chocolate Milk and Chocolate Ice Cream made with Cocoa Powder.

So this time I decided to make a chocolate hazelnut ice cream.

The result was the easiest. Ninja Creamy Nutella Ice Cream, that has the flavors you love, but in a fresh and creamy deliciousness.

This simple ice cream is one of the best Ninja Creami recipes, if you ask me, because it’s super easy and tasty.

The Ninja Creami Ice Cream Maker is a little different than most ice cream makers you might be used to.

If you’re unfamiliar with this handy gadget, it essentially creates an ice cream base, which you freeze into a special Ninja Creami pint for about 24 hours.

Once it’s frozen, you insert the pint into your machine, which acts similar to blenders or food processors.

Ninja’s Creamify technology uses a rotating “blade” on a motor base similar to a food processor (although the blade isn’t even sharp!) to “shave” the frozen concoction into a deliciously creamy delight.

The great thing about this machine is that you can make small batches (making it easy to create many different flavors) and you can easily customize the ingredients based on dietary needs or preferences.

It’s perfect for creating a variety of flavors for festive gatherings or for making desserts to suit the special diets of you or your guests.

And while you can make custard-based ice creams (with egg yolks) by cooking the ice cream base, I prefer the ease of a no-bake, egg-free recipe.

What kind of chocolate hazelnut spread can I use in the Ninja Creami?

For this ice cream, I have used the Nutella brand spread. I know there are several other options available, but I haven’t tried them.

I suppose a generic version would probably work just as well, but I can’t speak to the more natural varieties which tend to be a bit thicker and doughier, which can result in a less creamy texture.

Those types are also typically lower in sugar, so you may need to make some recipe adjustments if you use something other than the Nutella brand.

How to Make Ninja Creami Chocolate Ice Cream with Nutella

It’s so easy to make this delicious creamy treat!

Ingredients you will need for the easy recipe:

  • Cream cheese
  • Chocolate hazelnut spread, such as Nutella
  • Granulated sugar
  • Vanilla extract
  • Whole milk
  • Thick cream

How to make this homemade ice cream:

Smooth the ingredients. Add the cream cheese and chocolate hazelnut spread to a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for about 10-15 seconds, or until smooth.

add sugar. Add sugar to cream cheese mixture, stirring well until thick paste forms.

Next, add liquids. Combine the milk and heavy cream in a measuring cup. Add vanilla extract to the fondant, followed by a couple tablespoons of the milk and cream mixture.

Stir to incorporate, then continue adding milk/cream a little at a time, mixing well after each addition, until fully incorporated (allow sugar to dissolve while mixing).

Freeze. Pour the mixture into a Ninja Creami pint, making sure not to exceed the maximum fill line. Secure the lid on the pint and freeze on a level surface in your freezer for at least 24 hours.

Spin. After 24 hours, take the pint out of the freezer and remove the lid. Place the pint in the outer container and secure the lid.

Lock the outer container appliance on the Ninja Creami machine and press the Ice Cream button. The cycle will take a couple of minutes to complete.

Turn again if necessary. If the mixture falls apart a bit after the first round of spin, you can add a tablespoon of milk to the pint and use the Respin button to run the cycle again.

The spin cycle will make it creamier (you can also spin again without the extra tablespoon of milk, if you like).

Optional: If you want to add a mix-in to ice cream, create a well in the center of your pint that is about a half-inch wide and extends to the bottom of the pint.

Add the toppings (chopped cookies, chocolate chips, nuts, or whatever you’re using) to that well and place the bowl assembly in the machine, then select the Mix-in button on your Ninja Creami machine.

Serve and enjoy your creamy ice cream!

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon cream cheese

  • 1/3 cup chocolate hazelnut spread, such as Nutella

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 3/4 cup whole milk

  • 3/4 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Add cream cheese and chocolate hazelnut spread to a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 10-15 seconds, or just until softened.
  2. Add sugar to the cream cheese and Nutella mixture. Use a rubber spatula to mix until you have a thick paste.
  3. In a liquid measuring cup, combine the whole milk and heavy cream.
  4. Add vanilla extract to the paste, along with 2 tablespoons of the milk and cream mixture. Stir until incorporated.
  5. Continue adding the milk/cream mixture, a couple tablespoons at a time, mixing well after each addition, until the sugar has dissolved and there are no lumps.
  6. Pour the mixture into a Ninja Creami pint. Secure lid and place on a level surface in the freezer for 24 hours.
  7. Remove the pint from the freezer and remove the lid. Add a pint to the Ninja Creami bowl and secure the lid. Place the bowl in the Ninja Creami machine and press the Ice Cream button. Allow the cycle to run, which will take around 2 minutes.
  8. Once the cycle is complete, remove the bowl from the machine and look at the ice cream. If it seems to fall apart, you can put it back in the machine for a new spin cycle. If the mixture is still crumbly, add 1 tablespoon of milk to the ice cream and swirl again. This will make it nice and creamy.
  9. Serve and enjoy!

grades

  • This recipe was written for the 16-ounce pint containers that come with the 5-in-1 and 7-in-1 models. If you have a Ninja Creami Deluxe, your “pint” is 24 ounces. You can still use this recipe, but it won’t fill the container completely.
  • I have not tried this recipe with other brands of chocolate hazelnut spread. I think the generic brand would work well, but I’m not sure the more “natural” types of chocolate spreads with hazelnuts would work, as they have a different texture and typically contain less sugar.
