The benefits of The Depuffer
What makes The Depuffer stand out from other serums is its packaging. It’s essentially a 2-in-1 facial roller that works to replenish and sculpt skin while delivering a dose of skin-loving ingredients.
When researching the ingredients in The Depuffer, I recognized niacinamide, known to improve breakouts, the skin barrier, and pore size. I also saw glycerin, an important humectant meant to lock in moisture in the skin, and gotu kola (found in Dr. Jart’s iconic Tigergrass Color Correcting Treatment) which helps soothe and improve redness over time. Although these inclusions add to the overall charm of the serum, the champions of the product’s anti-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory efforts can be traced back to arnica extract and ash bark.
Arnica or Arnica montana flower extract comes from the daisy, and its healing properties date back to the 16th century according to Dr. Idriss. arnica is so convincingly that it is known to help speed up the healing process after procedures like injections or lasers. It helps soothe inflammation and swelling, can aid in the healing process of bruises, and helps with pain and muscle tension. Dr. Idriss gets straight to the science: When our bodies experience trauma, our bodies release something called cytokines that signal inflammatory cells. Arnica is capable of blocking cytokines and thus blocking inflammation. What happened when I tried The Depuffer?
I planned to try The Depuffer on a Monday morning after a busy weekend and the results did not disappoint. The combination of the cooling roller and the serum revived my sleep and helped calm my flushed face. The overall shape of my face was sculpted and toned, and my face was visibly less puffy after a few minutes of letting the formula absorb into my skin. I also found that it lifted and calmed the undersides of my eyes (FWIW: Dr. Idriss confirms that the formula is gentle enough to use on that delicate area).
In addition to its calming and de-puffing effect, my skin overall looked as if it had been seriously cared for, like I had slept through the night after a weekend of healthy eating, hot yoga, and a facial.
After applying the serum, I continued with my daily skin and makeup regimen and found that it worked well with all of my products and even made a great smoothing base. Dr. Idriss recommends “applying any excess serum to the skin and allowing it to dry completely” before applying makeup for a flawless finish. Although the formula has a thick consistency, it never clogged my pores or felt heavy. Although my days of having hard-to-treat acne are (hopefully) over, Dr. Idriss assured me that the serum is safe for acne-prone skin. “The Depuffer is great for all skin types, especially those with transient redness as a result of acne,” he noted.
At $38, I can’t recommend The Depuffer highly enough. It has taken the place of my favorite face roller, and you better believe it will do the same for you.
